Paul Woida

Paul Woida is a well known and much loved Canadian Singer/Songwriter/Master Looper currently based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. What is a looper, you may ask! Well, a musician who loops records and plays back melodic and rhythmic lines using instruments and voice in real time. He, as in Paul’s case, creates multiple layers which can weave in and out of the musical arrangement as he chooses throughout the piece. And Paul, having graduated with diplomas in both Composition and Drum Set from Grant MacEwan University, has the exceptional ability to combine complex rhythms with melody and harmony resulting in a sound close to that of a full band.

He is often compared to Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz and Jeff Buckley and has a unique live show which turns heads and wins the hearts of new fans wherever he goes. His incredible musicianship, catchy hooks and emotive vocals are unforgettable once experienced.

To name a few of his accomplishments, he is a past winner of the Hot 107 $10,000 Hot Factor Competition, he placed first in the Edmonton Landmark Showcase Competition, was chosen to open for Casting Crowns at the 2016 Break Forth conference and won the 2016 Airmiles ‘Detour Big Break’ Competition which brought him to Port Hawkesbury NS to open for Meghan Trainor. He has also opened for Shawn Desman and Scott Helman and one memorable night in 2017 opened for Martin Kerr at a sold out Winspear Concert Hall in Edmonton.

Besides playing weddings, corporate functions and clubs all over North America, Paul has played many fundraisers for the likes of hockey great, Glen Sather, and Dragons’ Den star, Brett Wilson. He’s also worked with the E Power Anti-Bullying Campaign which tours schools across Canada as well as with the Robb Nash Project super shows and school tours. He is part of the Edmonton United Way Campaign having co-written and participated in their popular 2016 campaign video. He has participated in various youth empowerment benefit concerts and will be going to China in November 2017 with We Stand, a youth leadership summit.

Paul’s passion is music and that passion is fueled by his love and passion for people. He wants to inspire and be a positive role model for people of all ages. His desire is to help them see that dreams are achievable if you work hard and keep striving!
